Ben's Story: A Challenging Diagnosis
At age 3 Ben Jenkins was diagnosed with severe autism.
Doctors told his family he would probably never talk or be capable of love, and that he may need to be later institutionalized.
His family would not accept this. Instead, they started an intensive 40-hour a week ABA home therapy program.
The hard work has paid off ...
Ben’s dedication to his innate musical abilities, as well as his loving heart and enthusiasm for life, have helped him achieve goals beyond his family's hopes.
Here's what he's accomplished...
Ben also auditioned for and has been accepted into the Berklee College of Music in Boston.
Ben's Road to Berklee
Put on Hold
Ben is an exceptionally gifted pianist; however, his dreams of going to Berklee College of Music have been put on hold.
There is not enough money to pay his college tuition.
All family money -- and future college funds -- have been spent on providing over 6 years of intensive therapy for him. Without this therapy he would not be where he is today.
With one more challenge facing him, Ben must raise his tuition to attend Berklee College of Music in the Fall of 2014.
